Layla

Layla was adopted from us a couple of years ago and has recently been returned because her family lost their home. Our routine vet check discovered a cancerous tumor on her leg. In the short period between surgery to remove this, and a consultation with an oncologist, two additional tumors appeared and were confirmed as cancer. We have investigated the various treatment options. At a cost of $1,000 per month, we might be able to grant her as much as an additional year on top of whatever time she has left. We can neither afford, nor justify this expense, and have decided to let nature take its course. We will give her as good a life as possible for whatever time she has left. She is presently living with us, where she eats well, sleeps well and plays hard! Is there someone out there who would be willing to care for her as a foster parent? We would pay for routine vet care and her food. Layla is 5 years old and she gets along great with other dogs.

  Blossom

This 55lb. Shepherd/Lab mix is now 4 years old. She was abandoned by her owner in 2008 and spent the next 12 months tied up in a backyard. Blossom has been in our foster program since April of 2009. Initially terrified of new experiences she has, well, blossomed!! Blossom loves to run on our acreage and chase the bunnies and birds. She would really benefit from an active owner who can exercise her daily. Blossom is spayed, house trained, microchipped and is current on shots including the rattlesnake vaccine. She has completed snake avoidance training and is excellent at sounding the alarm when a snake is in the vicinity. Blossom probably needs to be an only dog or be paired with a large, submisive male. This information last up-dated 8/8//10.

       Chester

Chester has been with us for more than a year, having been surrendered to the Castaic shelter. His owner listed him as 14 years old on impound day, but our vet then believed him to be between 10 -12 years of age. He weighs about 65lbs, which is small for a (Landseer) Newfie/Lab mix. Chester is house trained, neutered, microchipped and current on shots, including the rattlesnake vaccine. He completed snake avoidance training in the spring. If Chester were human he would be described as the perfect gentleman! He is living in a foster home with dogs ranging in size from 6 - 100 lbs, and he gets along well with them all. He is extremely friendly, loves his daily walk and to be brushed. We have pretty much given up trying to find him a permanent home, but if someone out there would like to foster him, we would be willing to pay for food and routine veterinary care

ICON

We pulled this big guy out of the Lancaster shelter on the last day of 2008. He came to us with major orthopedic problems and, over the past 18 months, has had surgery on his elbow and stem cell therapy to promote bone regrowth in both hips and one elbow. According to his surgeon, he now has almost complete range of motion in his various joints. Icon weighs about 100 pounds and is neutered, housetrained, microchipped and current on vaccines. He has also completed snake avoidance training and has received snake vaccines. Icon is very well behaved and well mannered. He walks well on a leash and can be trusted off leash in safe areas. He gets along well with other dogs and is presently in a foster home with many, ranging in size from 6 pounds to 100 pounds. This information last up-dated 8/8/10
